Customizable Star Finder.

FIND YOUR WAY IN THE SKY

To begin, know that this model is entirely new. The texts (names of stars, constellations, objects) are repositioned in order to increase readability. This is particularly visible for the Northern hemisphere. The South being little requested, I did not invest too much in this work. Egrets are added to facilitate the rapid identification of the main stars. The background of the sky can be white or blue but, configurable in dark, medium or light blue in the relatively near future. In project, the possibility of adding a logo for clubs or associations of Amateur Astronomers. The terms will be communicated later. Size width / height, jpg or png, etc ... Know that I did it manually for a sign so the feasibility verified. Remains to test the automation without intervention on my part.

MULTIPLE REQUESTS POSSIBLE

If you need other Starfinders or the "GOTO Special", restart the request form and modify the parameters as you wish. Note: After a first request, the information entered on page 1 is theoretically memorized and you only have to validate it to complete the new request.
When you press the "Send" button on page 3, a summary of the elements completed will be displayed and will be automatically sent to me in text format to my mailbox which will detect the content of the message. Once the Starfinder request has been identified, a fully automatic and fast process will create your personalized starfinder in PDF format and return it to the e-mail address you entered in the form.

If you are not satisfied with your starfinder, ask for others. It's free and automatic and doesn't require any intervention on my part.

NOTE: Since the server PC is not on 24/7, you may not receive your star finder by return a few moments after the request. Be patient, as soon as it is turned on, when reading the messaging, the work will resume and you will receive it in the following minutes. Please excuse me for this inconvenience but the wait is worth it and, ... it's FREE! and ... Thank you for the planet.

The PDF document received in your mailbox is The Star Finder. It consists of a first page to print on a transparent overhead projection or other, printable on your printer. This first page includes the declination rule and the transparent disk that will constitute the front of the star finder.

The second page should preferably be printed on high-weight glossy photo paper or any other paper of your choice. This represents the sky corresponding to the requested latitude. The graduations surrounding the sky are used to adjust the star finder to match the oval representing the sky visible at the time of observation. This is a much more complex instrument allowing many calculations such as a slide rule. Even if its precision cannot match computer software, it has the merit of working without a battery, therefore very ecological, therefore, in tune with the times. You should know that its precision is sufficient for the majority of visual needs. It should be an object in the possession of any amateur and/or professional astronomer. I have had requests from the South Pole and Chile. Nearly 3000 star finders have been requested since 2008. I invite you to pass on the information to your friends, whether they are astronomers or not. There are star enthusiasts among sailors, hunters, ornithologists, night walkers or simply those curious about the sky seeking to find their way in the immensity of the universe. At this stage, you can cut out and assemble your star finder. You will want to stick a decorative or better useful element on the back of it. You will undoubtedly find the essential element in this suite. First, I suggest the GOTO card which is described below. There is also the Messier objects sheet in color or other, for example, the photo calculator, etc... It is up to you to see all the sheets described in the following article and make your choice. You were only looking for a star finder, your quest for the Holy Grail ends here.

GOTO MAP

This represents the entire visible hemisphere with the constellations and the main stars to point and check the stationing of your mount. Can also help to perfect the stationing by triangulation by pointing at stars that can be recognized with certainty. This is what this map is for. To obtain it, use the same form as before with the coordinates of the observation location and select the "Special GOTO". Do you have an interesting star to add in a poorly covered area? Let me know by searching and clicking on the little man who is moving noted CONTACT ME on the introduction page.

I also attach in the "Download of the sheets", a PDF document of recognition of the stars for the Northern and Southern hemispheres. But I advise you to ask for the "GOTO Special" which will be in my opinion more interesting.
